Sheet Extrusion

Thin Gauge Sheet Extrusion

Using sheet extrusion technology, we manufacture high quality thin gauge sheet for use in the production of plastic food packaging.

We’ve partnered with SML to use the highest quality sheet extrusion technology. The high performance SML extruders we use are renowned for superior quality sheet production, and efficient extrusion lines.

Sheet Specifications

Plastic sheet can be produced to your required specification, with a range of sizes, colours, and polymer blends available. We have the capacity to supply high volumes of food grade thin gauge sheet, with multiple extrusion lines operating 24 hours a day.

Sheet specifications available:

Width: 215mm – 950mm
Thickness: 250µ – 1,200µ
Colours: Full range of pantone colours available

The full range of plastic sheet products we produce include:

Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) Sheet:

  • Amorphous Polyethylene terephthalate (APET)
  • Polyethylene terephthalate / polyethylene (APET / PE)
  • Recycled Polyethylene terephthalate (RPET)
  • Recycled Polyethylene terephthalate / Polyethylene (RPET/PE)

Polystyrene (PS) Sheet:

  • High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS)
  • General Purpose Polystyrene (GPPS)

Polypropylene (PP) Sheet

Extensive & Vivid Colour Range

There is virtually no limit to your options for adding colour to your packaging, with the full range of pantone colours available.
Colour is a crucial part of creating unique, identifiable packaging that stands out from your competition and supports your brand identity.

Working closely with our customers and masterbatch suppliers, we offer a precise colour matching service, ensuring the exact colour match for your needs.

Our state of the art extrusion equipment ensures consistency of colour throughout every production run.

We also offer premium design effects, such as marbling, wood grain, and marbling effect, for a more unique finish to the extruded sheet.

EREMA Recycling Technology

With in-house EREMA technology, we have the advantage of producing PET products with a higher volume of recycled content, without reducing the end product’s strength.

The sophisticated VACUREMA recycling system, integrated with our extrusion lines, allows us to use post-consumer, non-food grade PET flakes to directly extrude high quality, food grade sheet. All functions, including decontamination, are performed in one process.

The result is extruded food grade plastic sheet with stable viscosity and higher recycled content, in a much more efficient process.

The Sheet Extrusion Process

There are three main parts to the sheet extrusion line:

1. The extruder
The raw materials are first fed into the hopper, which feeds into the heated barrel via the feed throat onto a rotating screw. The plastic is conveyed forward by the screw, which melts in the heated barrel, mixing together.

The pressure increases, which forces the melt to flow into the die for the next stage of the process. As the plastic sheet we produce is made up of three layers, three extruders feed the melts for each layer into a single die, a process known as co-extrusion.

2. The die
The die shapes the melt into a molten flat sheet, which then leaves the die at a controlled thickness and flow rate.

3. The downstream equipment
The downstream equipment pulls the plastic sheet from the die and adjusts the thickness of the sheet. A finish is then imparted before the plastic sheet is cooled. After cooling, the sheet can then be trimmed and cut to the required dimensions.

The result is durable, quality plastic sheet with a high IV value and lower carbon footprint, which can be supplied in large commercial volumes with high-speed turnaround times.
